When Riazul Tried to Cook
💌 Part 3 – When Riazul Tried to Cook
He burned the breakfast. But something else nearly slipped out in the smoke...
Chapter One: His First Recipe Was Her Smile
The soft morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a golden glow on the bed. Barishu lay there, tangled in sheets, her hair spread like a black halo around her face.
Riazul stood at the door, watching her with a smile that betrayed more than just admiration. It was as if she was a piece of art, too beautiful to touch but too perfect to leave untouched.
He stepped softly to the kitchen, his heart racing with a thought he hadn’t fully formed yet.
“Today… I want to do something right.”
The kitchen, however, had its own plans. Eggs cracked wrong. Toast burned in a flash.
The gummy bear he placed on the plate melted — the red syrup spilling out like something delicate and dangerous. The heart-shaped design looked almost too perfect. Too meaningful.
He didn’t know what he was trying to prove. Maybe it was just that he cared. Or maybe, it was something deeper. Something he hadn’t said yet.
Chapter Two: Love Tastes Like Smoke
Barishu entered the kitchen, her eyes wide at the sight of smoke curling from the toaster. She stopped just behind him, watching in silence.
“Trying to impress me or summon the dead?” she asked, her voice teasing but soft.
Riazul turned around, surprised, but then a smile crept onto his lips — that crooked, shy smile that made her heart flutter.
“Both.”
She took the plate, her fingers brushing his for a brief second. There was something intimate in that touch — something tender and unspoken. She looked at the blackened toast, the slightly scrambled mess, and the gummy bear heart that now had melted into an almost-too-real symbol.
“This… is chaos,” she whispered, her lips curling up at the edges. “But it’s the kind I’d marry.”
Her words sank into his chest. He wanted to say something, but the weight of the moment felt too heavy for casual jokes. She wasn’t laughing just at him. She was laughing with him — and that felt like the most beautiful thing he’d ever experienced.
Chapter Three: The Real Heat
They sat down together on the cold kitchen floor, their knees touching, sharing the burnt toast as though it was the most exquisite meal they'd ever tasted. The space between them felt charged, filled with the comfort of silence and the electricity of something more. She fed him a bite, smiling that warm, gentle smile he loved so much.
Her gaze softened as she wiped a bit of melted gummy bear off her lip. She looked at him — her eyes searching, her voice quieter than before.
“You’re hiding something,” she said softly, her words heavier than any joke he’d made.
Riazul froze. He didn’t know how to respond.
Was she right? Did she know? Was the weight of his feelings so obvious? He could feel his heart beating faster as he struggled to find words that felt right. But instead, he just smiled. A little uncertain, but still warm.
“Maybe,” he said, his voice low and raw. “But not for long.”
Barishu’s heart skipped a beat. There was something in his eyes — something more than just the playful, teasing side of him. She could see the shadows in his smile, the vulnerability he always tried to hide.
The truth was hanging on the tip of his tongue, but he wasn’t ready to say it yet. He wasn’t ready to risk everything by revealing it all. But the more time she spent with him, the more she could feel it — something unspoken, something powerful.
They stayed like that for a long moment, just staring at each other in the quiet aftermath of their shared breakfast. No words were needed now. They both knew what was there, even if they couldn’t quite name it .
